What We Do
Empower Parents
At Christmas House, thousands of new toys, books, and new warm coats are assembled and beautifully displayed for a one-day "shopping" event. Parents and guardians are invited to personally select the perfect gifts for their children.
Giving parents and guardians this active role in Christmas House sets it apart from other charitable gift-giving projects.
Create Joy
The primary goal of Christmas House is creating a feeling of joy in the hearts of children. Our volunteers and supporters purchase, collect, and sort thousands of toys, books, and coats to distribute to hundreds of local school children through their parents and guardians.
In addition to parents and guardians, the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City School District and Orange County School District Social Workers "shop" for the students that are currently placed in foster care and are most in need.
Support Literacy
The Christmas House Books Program supports literacy in our community by providing parents with the opportunity to choose books for their children that reflect their interests and reading level.
As the beneficiary of the New Hope Commons Holiday Book Donation Program, our collection of books has become a wonderful reflection of the diversity of this wonderful community.
